The Babysitter - 3
Tom sighed as he attempted to float along the surface of the swimming pool. Unfortunately, he wasn’t very buoyant, so it more like a combination of treading water and holding his breath. He was starting to get tired too, which normally wouldn’t have been that big of a deal. He would have just put his feet down, which was quite possible in most halfling pools. But he wasn’t in a halfling pool. He was in a pool built for Alex. The shallowest end of the pool was already a full four feet deep. Twice as tall as Tom was. Which meant that if Tom needed to rest, he only had three options. He could get out of the pool, which wasn’t an option since Alex was in the pool. He could hang on to the side, but again that would put him farther away from Alex than he’d prefer. Or he could try and float on top, which of course wasn’t working. There was theoretically a fourth option, but Tom would prefer to avoid that one for many reasons. “Are you okay?” Said fourth option asked. Tom looked over at the
